This is part of a larger painting of Schubert Cafe and the surrounding walkway. However, together the two parts seemed to compete for the focal point of the work. It immediately solved the problem to trim the painting into separate parts. It actually makes me enjoy the painting so much more to see it in bits and pieces!This little detail from the larger Salzburg Cafe painting, allows me to see contrasts in color temperature, color intensity and scale relationships. It also inspired me to practice painting figures more, especially trying to make them with fewer details.
