Gene Coulon Park

This was the first painting where I introduced figures into the landscape. It immediately brought such a welcoming feeling into the scene and also a story. I could suddenly imagine how I would feel in the painting if I were with them or I could imagine them as my own children or someone else I know.  Painting the figures at a polite distance seems to allow the viewer space to interpret the story as they wish.

This park is significant to me because my husband and I went out on our first date here. We launched a boat into the bay and enjoyed a beautiful, sunny afternoon.
